Design work is underway for North East Link – Victoria’s largest road project.
Finally connecting Melbourne’s freeway network, North East Link will connect an upgraded Eastern Freeway to the M80 Ring Road.
North East Link will deliver three major projects in one:
North East Link: Completing the ring road between the Eastern Freeway and the M80 Ring Road, connecting the growing northern and south-eastern suburbs
Eastern Freeway upgrades: Overhauling the Eastern Freeway with new lanes and new technology for up to 40% faster trips
Doncaster Busway: Launching a new Doncaster Busway with dedicated express bus lanes along the Eastern Freeway from Doncaster towards the city
This project will duplicate the remaining 2.9 kilometre freight rail single track section of the Port Botany Rail Line (PBRL) between Mascot and Botany, and construct a 1.4 kilometre passing loop to allow trains to pass at Cabramatta.

NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) has been working with the Aspire Consortium (Frasers Property Australia and Mission Australia Housing) on transforming the 8.2 hectare site on the corner of Herring Road and Epping Road. World-class urban design, quality facilities and public open spaces will support a cohesive and sustainable community and make Ivanhoe a highly desirable place to live.
Current planning controls indicate that the site has a gross floor area of around 278,000m2 which, dependent on unit sizes, will allow for a range of 3,000 – 3,400 units including over 950 social housing units and 128 affordable rental homes being built over the next 10-12 years.
The Pacific Highway upgrade is one of Australia’s largest road infrastructure projects. The Australian and New South Wales Governments have been upgrading will be completed by 2020.
Roads and Maritime Services is upgrading the Princes Highway between Berry and Bomaderry. The $450 million project will improve safety, increase road capacity, improve traffic flow and deliver better and more reliable journeys on this section of the highway.
Planning is currently underway to construct a new four lane Princes Highway bridge over the Shoalhaven River at Nowra. The Federal Government will fund half of the projects total $310 million cost with the New South Wales Government chipping in the other $155 million. On average, around 50,000 vehicles will cross the bridge every day.
