Five years on: Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy review
The mid-term review of the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012-2022 (the Strategy) shows that it continues to be an important tool to shape work health and safety (WHS) activities across Australia.
The review highlighted 14 key findings including:
- the Strategy is being used as intended and has shaped a range of WHS initiatives across Australia
- the Strategy is broad and flexible enough to meet the needs of stakeholders across various industries
- progress against all three Strategy targets is on track, and
- the existing priority industries and priority disorders are still relevant and need increased attention during the remaining five years of the Strategy.
A range of stakeholders, including government bodies, unions, industry associations, WHS professionals and academics informed the review.
The findings of the review are being considered by Safe Work Australia Members.
