Marshall Islands run-down government building back on the agenda

The Marshall Islands government has taken its first steps to bringing all of its ministries together in one building, three years after they were split up across the capital Majuro.

A New Zealand company has been hired to address the governments options for renovating or rebuilding the four-story capital building, which was vacated in 2014 amid concerns of corrosion, rust and water damage on the health and safety of employees.

Since then, government departments have been paying expensive rent to operate in private locations and Giff Johnson, editor of the Marshall Islands Journal says it would make their jobs easier to be back in the same building.
